Alpen Teton 8x42 Binoculars with Abbe Prism

I've been using these 8x42 Alpen Teton Binoculars with Abbe Prisms, and they are very high quality. I've used them for bird watching, star gazing, variable star research and photography with my iPhone. Very versatile and a relaxing viewing experience.
These Binoculars worked great for nature photography and birding with my iPhone. Images are crystal clear and video even better. Very sharp images and free from color aberration. Great for daytime use.
I've also used these Binoculars for Astronomy and found them to be fantastic. Crystalline pinpoint star images, and great for bright variable star observations. I've recently been viewing and recording observations of Beta Lyrae. It is a bright star, and the difficulty is getting an accurate read with few comparison stars. These binoculars give a wide field of view, and allow easy estimation of brightness. Using the "de-focusing" method to view a variable star works great when you have enough focuser travel distance to take the stars completely out of focus. These binoculars have more focus travel than expected and bright 1st, 2nd and 3rd magnitude stars can be defocused and "completely" disappear, giving you a clear and discernable method to help estimate brighter star magnitude. Many larger or higher power binoculars do not have that type of focuser travel distance. This is a huge plus and I will use these binoculars for all my brighter star variable estimates and submissions to the AAVSO.
